Brian Barron
Chief Executive Officer

Brian Barron is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Construction Secretariat (OCS), where he leads efforts to strengthen Ontario’s unionized industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) construction sector through research, strategic partnerships, and stakeholder engagement.

Prior to joining OCS, Brian spent 20 years with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD). Most recently, he served as Senior Manager of the Construction Health and Safety Program, providing strategic oversight of the province’s construction health and safety inspectors and helping to advance key legislative and regulatory reforms. Throughout his tenure, he held progressively senior leadership roles focused on improving safety, compliance, and industry performance.

Brian began his career in the construction industry, working as a site supervisor in the ICI sector after gaining experience in residential and road building while completing post secondary studies.

With over 30 years of experience spanning public policy, labour relations, health and safety, and industry operations, Brian is committed to advancing Ontario’s construction sector. As CEO, he works closely with labour, management and government partners to promote the value of unionized construction, support evidence-based policy, and drive innovation and excellence across the industry. A respected industry voice, he regularly speaks at conferences and policy forums and is a strong advocate for the skilled trades and Ontario’s unionized workforce.
