AGM & CONFERENCE 2025

This inaugural OCS Award of Excellence is an annual award, presented to an individual(s) or group to recognize leadership excellence within Ontario’s Unionized ICI construction industry, specifically, in the following areas: Health & Safety, Labour Relations, Training, and/or Workforce Development. The award will be presented at our Annual General Meeting in September.

What does leadership excellence mean to us?

In alignment with our mandate, we believe leadership excellence means to inspire industry leaders to work as partners to strengthen labour-management relationships, build industry knowledge and awareness, and promote the building trade union advantage.
Below are some key qualities and achievements we will take into consideration when selecting the recipient:

Empowerment: Supports the growth and development of others while fostering an environment of trust, learning, and collaboration.
Impact: Demonstrates measurable positive outcomes through leadership effort.
Innovation: Tackles challenges creatively and proactively, driving progress and change.
Integrity: Honest, fair, and committed to doing what is right.
Visionary: Possesses the ability to set a clear direction and inspire others to achieve shared goals.

Submission Instructions

The nomination period has now closed. Thanks to all those who nominated someone, we received lots of wonderful submissions.

Eligibility

Nominees must be affiliated with the Ontario Construction Secretariat. This means working for one of the following:

• • Employee/Employer Bargaining Agency
  • Building Trade Council
  • Local Union
  • Union signatory contractor association
  • Union signatory contractor
  • Union-employer training centre
  • Government

Deadlines

• Submission Deadline: July 31, 2025
• Award Presentation: September 29 – October 1, 2025 (Annual General Meeting & Conference)
